The course provides an overview of water accounting as laid out in the System of Environmental Economic Accounting (SEEA), the statistical standard used to measure the relationship between the economy and the environment, and the SEEA Water. Topics covered include: water supply and use tables, including wastewater, in physical terms; water asset accounts; water emission accounts; water-related expenditures; indicators and policy applications that can be derived from water accounts, including reference to SDG indicators; and, compilation issues. The core tables and accounts for water are also presented.
